नवी दिल्ली : भारतीय जवानांनी तब्बल ७४ दिवसांच्या युद्धानंतर २६ जुलै १९९९ रोजी पाक सैन्यावर मात केली होती. या शौर्याचे प्रतिक म्हणून कारगिल विजय दिवस (Kargil Vijay Diwas) साजरा केला जातो.
तत्कालीन पंतप्रधान अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी यांनी हा दिवस कारगिल विजय दिवस म्हणून साजरा करण्यास सुरूवात केली. या दिवसाचे स्मरण ठेवून शहिदांना दरवर्षी श्रद्धांजली अर्पण केली जाते.
